The legal team at Fresenius Medical Care Asia Pacific is led by Jean DeSombre, senior vice president and general counsel of Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong, the company’s Asia Pacific headquarters. Fresenius Medical Care (FMC) is the largest global provider of chronic kidney failure products and services serving more than 320,000 patients with dialysis treatment across its 3,700 dialysis clinics using supplies from its 41 production sites around the world. The legal team has been supporting the US$2bn revenue business in the Asia Pacific region very successfully in recent years. Despite the team’s small size – eight lawyers covering 16 countries – it is noted for its ability in M&A transactions and other operational issues. DeSombre has trained her team to be not only legal advisers pointing out legal risks, but also business partners and business solution providers.
