Hang Seng Bank is the largest in Hong Kong and is one of the most innovative with heavy investment in AI technology and digital platform technology. As such the legal team, run by company secretary and general counsel Godwin LI Chi Chung, is heavily involved in the regulatory aspects of this work, as well as all legal matters involved in its operation such as IP, privacy, data protection, contracts, banking and capital markets among many others. Amassing over three decades of experience within the Bank, Chung first joined the business in 1995 and has served in his current role since 2005. In terms of specific technology Hang Seng Bank launched its new commercial banking WeChat official account “WeChat Account” at the end of July 2018 to provide SME and commercial customers with instant access to the bank’s updates. Another project, saw the bank create a Chatbot named “Bari” to assist business banking customers with enquiries, starting in May 2018.
