SOCAM is an international construction company specialising in niche property development and investment in mainland China, with 45 years of construction experience in Hong Kong and Macau. In particular, SOCAM builds public housing, as well as residential, institutional and commercial construction, renovation and maintenance projects. The SOCAM legal team is responsible for ensuring legal compliance with all regulations, transactions, and document preparation for investments, contracts, supply chain and other company matters. In 2017 the construction division of the company recorded a HK$135m profit, an 80% increase from the previous year, as well as securing a total value of HK$6.8bn in new contracts. This demonstrates the steady growth of the company and the legal team’s experience and management in assisting this. Shawn Poon, deputy general manager – legal affairs, joined SOCAM in 2013 and assumed his current position in January 2018, where he leads the legal department and oversees a valued and trusted business function.
