The Hong Kong legal team of Barclays is led by Rachel Huf who serves as general counsel Asia Pacific and consists of 19 lawyers and two non-lawyers. The team is part of a larger legal team that covers Hong Kong, India, Singapore and Tokyo. In Hong Kong the team advises on a wide range of legal areas including M&A, debt and equity capital markets, equities, funds, distribution, as well as structuring, data privacy and financial crime. In addition, the team also fully supports litigation and investigations, regulatory relations, employment law, contract management and risk governance controls functions. Barclays’ legal team in Hong Kong also demonstrates leadership, drive and commitment on diversity and inclusion initiatives as well as citizenship initiatives. For example, the team actively engages in mental health awareness, spearheading a global “Mindful Business Charter” campaign, as well as participating in the “Mind over Mountains” fundraising five-day trek in the Himalayas, an initiative in which Huf, Colin Dunlop, Jessica Bartlett, Abby Yeung and Charmaine Ng participated. Along with Yeung, team members Rochelle Hooper and Bobby Ladwa have also been instrumental in launching Barclays Hong Kong’s first ever environment network, focusing on information, action, and engagement with management and peer banks on environmental and social development goals as well as shared value initiatives and green bond financing.
