What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

We are involved in all legal and corporate governance aspects of AllianzGI’s Asia onshore operations in Japan, Taiwan, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Indonesia, including onshore and cross border distribution arrangements, fund launches, investment management service offerings, transactions management, strategy advisory, regulatory advisory and corporate governance matters.

Apart from legal matters, has the team worked on other company initiatives?

Our in-house legal team routinely works on AllianzGI’s M&A (such as expansion into Indonesia and AllianzGI’s tie-up with Voya Investment Management) and other strategic initiatives, as well as working with our compliance team in interpreting regulatory requirements, conducting internal investigations, developing corporate governance practices, and providing advice at board and committee levels for our Asian operating entities. AllianzGI’s in-house legal team has contributed significantly to ESG initiatives and outsourcing topics around the region, notably in Taiwan and Singapore.

How does the in-house legal team contribute to the overall dispute resolution strategy of the organisation?

Our in-house legal team is the go-to team at AllianzGI in developing any dispute resolution strategy before outside counsel is involved. Our legal team drives the direction of AllianzGI’s handling of any litigation, threatened litigation or contentious regulatory enquiry, information request or regulatory action. Our legal team selects and engages external litigation counsel and supervises their work and advice rendered to AllianzGI on all potential legal disputes and contentious employment or regulatory matters until their conclusion
