As general counsel and chief compliance officer, Dr. Kening Li leads a diverse team of 19 legal, compliance and IP experts to oversee the legal and compliance affairs of the group with presence in Mainland China, Hong Kong, the US and Europe.

Having joined the group in 2019, Dr. Li has expanded the team from eight to 19 people. He brought about major changes by establishing a clear division of labour and a more structured reporting system, a global legal supporting team of both function of legal and IP with professional experts, a more efficient and wellorganised corporate governance structure, and a comprehensive and sophisticated compliance operational mechanism. Over the past 12 months, on top of the legal matters and Hong Kong securities laws compliance matters regarding day-to-day operations of the group, the legal and compliance team has been heavily involved in some major projects, such as the financing exercises of GenScript’s subsidiaries – namely, Legend Biotech Corporation and ProBio Technology.
