In February 2018 Aitor Unanue left his position at construction group ULMA in order to embark on a new challenge at Orona, designers and manufacturers of elevators, escalators, moving ramps and walkways across Europe. As the head of the legal department he has to develop the department structure and provide and coordinate legal services for the group in its activities all over the world.

One of his most notable achievements is the creation and implementation of the legal department on behalf of ULMA, which gave him the opportunity to develop both legal-technical and organisational skills to build the team in his current role at Orona. Unanue started his career in 1996 at Spanish legal firm Garrigues, and after 12 subsequent years in private practice he started his in-house career at the legal department of ULMA. In the last few years he has developed a specific process and structure that has paved the strategy for the legal team.

He states: ‘I´m proud of the work done and I will try to reproduce it with similar results in my new job. From the business perspective, the improvements of the legal procedures affect to the whole organisation in terms of efficiency and clarification of internal and international relationships’.
