Cintra
Managing director and director of legal services for Brazil | Accenture
Cintra is a wholly-owned subsidiary of services and infrastructure operator Ferrovial but is, in its own right, one of the largest private developers of transport infrastructure in the world. Although Cintra is based in Spain, around two thirds of its income is earned elsewhere and it has become an important developer of infrastructure and transportation projects in North America. However, Cintra’s Spanish and European operations remain essential to many of its businesses. Cintra operates some of Spain’s most important motorways – including Madrid’s M45 and the Autopista Radial R-4 – and has a large footprint in European countries including Greece, Ireland and Portugal. The European legal department, led by Cristina Álvarez, plays an important role in the company’s wider success. One partner at a leading international law firm comments: ‘Cintra’s central legal team has been phenomenally successful at maintaining good communications and a strong working relationship with its colleagues in other jurisdictions. Such communication is increasingly essential to an internationally focused company and I therefore rank the team led by [Álvarez] as one of the finest in Iberia’.
