Citibank Portugal
With a remit that extends to all of the country transactions and regulatory implementation for Citibank in Portugal, the legal team of the company is led by Isabel Charraz in her role of senior vice president and country legal counsel. First joining Citi in 2003 and also currently maintaining a data privacy officer role, Charraz explains how she currently oversees a team that has ‘fostered a deep involvement with the local business areas, ensuring a strong knowledge of the operational part of the banking and financial products offered in the country’. Charraz is confident that this approach has led to a more ‘robust’ legal expertise that allows the team to identify potential legal risks far in advance, anticipating potential challenges and offering viable legal and business solutions. Despite being a relatively small team, the net total of legal, business and operation knowledge improves day-by-day owing to the ‘constant pursual’ of training initiatives aimed at weathering the ‘stormy’ regulatory environment.
