Headquartered in Geneva, the international division of Japan Tobacco, JTI (Japan Tobacco International) is a world leader in the manufacturing, marketing and sale of tobacco products, owning well-known brands such as Camel, Winston and Benson & Hedges. Created by Ana Isabel Montero Corbin in 2010, JTI’s Madrid-based legal team is responsible for all legal matters across five distinct markets: Spain, Canary Islands, Portugal, Andorra and Gibraltar. The department is tasked with providing legal assistance in all the issues that may arise across JTI’s business in the region, which include several production facilities employing over 750 employees. Applauded for the extensive expertise of its members in competition, international and corporate law, Montero’s team has led, and provided support to, domestic and international projects. The legal department recently facilitated the renewal of JTI’s agreement to buy 12,000 tonnes of tobacco from Extremadura until 2018, solidifying its position on the Iberian market. The team features a number of prominent lawyers, such as legal managers Juncal Ferrer and Jorge Marqués Mosquera, and lawyer Eugenia Victoria Jimenez Mota.
