‘eDreams ODIGEO is one of the world’s largest online travel companies and one of the largest European e-commerce businesses. eDreams ODIGEO and each of its five leading brands – Opodo, eDreams, Go Voyages, Travellink and Liligo – are present in 43 markets, serving over 18.5 million customers in 2017. The legal department of eDreams ODIGEO is composed of 12 seasoned lawyers in the travel and e-commerce areas, located in five different locations in Europe – Barcelona, Paris, London, Hamburg and Milan. The department is structured in three areas: corporate, business and competition and compliance and is led by Guillaume Teissonniere who has served as general counsel and company secretary since April 2016 and who reorganised the team over the last three years to make it a superb top-notch legal team of one of the leading online European businesses, with some members in Barcelona praised for their excellence like Caroline Evrard, group competition counsel, who was nominated as a Notable Woman Competition Professional by the Women Forum. Online travel is a very dynamic and innovative market and the legal department has made significant contributions to the growth of the business, as well as to eDreams ODIGEO’s corporate organisation. On the transactional front, eDreams ODIGEO’s legal team has supported the acquisition of the hotel booking site Budgetplaces in 2017. Another major transactional win for the team involved two refinancing projects for respective amounts of €435m and €425m in 2016 and 2018. On the litigation side, the legal department successfully settled landmark ecommerce and IP lawsuits involving eDreams, Ryanair and Google before the Irish courts in 2017 and is one of the complainants against Google before DG Comp in the famous Google Shopping case leading to a €4.3bn fine against the search engine. As member of the Board of the European Technology and Travel Services Association (ETTSA), the legal department of eDreams ODIGEO is also involved in key European legal cases shaping the future of the airline distribution market. Guillaume Teissonnière is the vice chairman of ETTSA. The legal department also provided a high level of service on its work on implementing compliance related to the PSD2 directive payments, Market Abuse Regulation, GDPR personal data and the Package Travel Directive.’
