A major component of the global construction industry given its dominant position in the cement, aggregates and ready mix market, LafargeHolcim’s extensive business operations across the world are supported by an extremely capable legal function based in numerous countries. In Spain, the LafargeHolcim legal and compliance department is led by Juan Verdú Lázaro in his role as General Counsel, Compliance Officer and Board Secretary. It has been involved in some major projects over recent years. As well as generating value for the company, it has been extremely important in the company’s cost-control efforts, enacting a strict cost discipline culture in order to get the most out of the team’s budget. Its M & A and Competition Law work has been similarly marked, and has included both acquisitions of smaller cement companies and divestments of LafargeHolcim divisions in the company.
