Traditionally based in Madrid, the legal department began branching out into legal divisions and managements in Peru, Portugal, Mexico, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Norway, Russia, Canada and the US. Today, the legal affairs department is broken down into three main divisions: corporate divisions of legal services and chief compliance officer, downstream legal division and exploration and production legal division. ‘With the aim of becoming leaner, stronger, and more flexible, they developed a strategic plan to create more value and demonstrate a greater ability to adapt to stress scenarios.
