What are the most significant cases and transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
We successfully closed several significant collective bargaining agreements and co-lead the institutional crisis management screening team. We also revised the University Board of Trustees Board Regulations and presented to the Board of Trustees on the impact of the Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard decision and NCAA Updates, including Name, Image, and Likeness.
Which recent political, economic or regulatory changes have impacted your work the most in the past year?
That would be changes to the laws and regulations governing Name, Image, and Likeness for student athletes and revised Title IX regulations.
How does your legal team collaborate with other departments within the company?
My team collaborates with all areas of the organisation by providing legal advice, handling transactional matters, and providing litigation support. We believe in being problem solvers that engage in strategic thinking with university decision makers. We vigorously defend the interests of the university and its constituents, to preserve, protect and promote integrity and ethical conduct. We practice preventive law and provide proactive advice to assist the Board of Trustees, the president, officers, faculty and staff accomplish their institutional objectives.
