Laura is a seasoned sports executive and chief legal advisor for Chicago’s Major League Soccer team, the Chicago Fire Football Club. In her role as chief legal and administrative officer, Laura oversees all operations for the club’s legal, information technology, people and culture, and administrative functions. Laura created the club’s first in-house legal department upon her arrival at the club in 2020 and continues to advise the club on sports and risk management issues. Notable projects include legal operations for the development of the club’s new state-of-the-art performance center, its development team, and renegotiation of the club’s competition agreement with iconic Soldier Field stadium. Laura is also an adjunct professor in sports law for Northwestern University and serves on committees for the Sports Lawyers Association and the American Bar Association’s Sports Division, which she previously co-chaired. Prior to joining the Chicago Fire, Laura worked in college sports for DePaul University and in private practice as a commercial litigator at Sidley Austin. Laura is a proud graduate of the University of Chicago Law School and was a dual-sport athlete as an undergraduate at Illinois Wesleyan University, which comes in handy when she is attempting to (unsuccessfully!) school her two teenage sons in pickup games.
