Legal team size: The Americas legal team, which I lead, has 6 lawyers, including me.
What are the most significant cases and transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
We recently acquired a major publicly traded competitor, InnerWorkings, Inc. Following the acquisition, we continue to provide guidance on integration matters and ongoing litigation. Additionally, we recently resolved a substantial restrictive covenant case.
Which recent political, economic or regulatory changes have impacted your work the most in the past year?
The two primary areas are: employment-related legal issues, including the FTC’s proposed ban on non-compete agreements and the DOL’s regulation to raise the salary threshold for exempt employees; and ongoing changes to data privacy laws and regulations at the U.S. state level.
How does your legal team collaborate with other departments within the company?
I encourage the team to collaborate with other departments in all matters we work on. For example: some team members sit on senior leadership teams for various business units; we participate on the company’s AI steering committee; we work closely with our Finance team on new client contracts, and we lead a data privacy initiative alongside Information security. Additionally, we meet regularly with HR to stay up to date on employee issues.
