What is the biggest risk facing your industry now and how are you preparing your organisation to deal with this?
India is looking at tremendous opportunities in commercial planes and the defence business. The Indian government is embracing Atmanirbharta, or self-reliance, which will completely transform how business is done in India. Global OEMs doing business in India will need to strategise to offer new products and services with a strong focus on adding value to India. It is a huge opportunity to participate in the growth of the aerospace and defence business in India.
What are some of the most significant cases or transactions you have worked on recently?
Akasa, India’s newest airline, is a Boeing customer. I have had the privilege to work on the commercial plane sale transaction. On the defence side, I have participated in a lot of platform sourcing by the ministry of defence. Additionally, I have been very involved in defence offsets programmes, where Boeing has made significant progress. I am also part of the senior team setting up Boeing’s engineering and technology campus in Bengaluru, India.
What is a cause, business or otherwise, you are passionate about and why?
A strong business has an extreme focus on compliance, risk assessment and governance. I have been fortunate to develop one for Boeing in India. A general counsel must mitigate business risks; I am very passionate about being a problem solver.
