Team size: Five
Can you tell us a little about your significant accomplishments over the last few years, as a team or by yourself?
Our focus over the last few years has been on enhancing the capability of the team, utilising external resources more effectively, and improving quality standards within the legal team. Considering the current move towards a hybrid model of working from home and in office, the well-being of our team has been a key metric. I believe that the following five things are key to a productive work culture within the legal function.
Strategic vision – synchronising business needs and legal requirements;
Teamwork – devising a business solution which mitigates business risks;
Client satisfaction – going beyond mere legal advice and offering proactive solutions that meet business requirements;
Employee development – investing in individual team members strengths to enhance their capabilities and unlock their full potential;
Efficiency – blend of experience and multi- functional expertise.
The legal team has earned trust and respect from our internal clients, by consistently delivering strategic support to business and operations. We have set a high standard of ethical behaviour for the team, the organisation, and in the marketplace, and expect to continue to drive ethical behaviour.
How has the increasing consciousness of climate change and sustainability affected your company and the team’s priorities?
As an organisation, we have set three clear environmental goals:
To achieve 100% net-zero emissions by 2025;
To move to zero waste; and
To plan for water risk.
To contribute towards this, 53% renewable electricity is powering our offices and centres around the world—our goal is 100% by 2023. We are reusing or recycling 100% of e-waste, such as computers and servers, as well all office furniture and eliminate single-use plastics in our locations. We are developing plans for our facilities to reduce the impact of flooding, drought and water scarcity in high-risk areas and also measuring and reducing water use in our locations.
Our focus on sustainability helps us attract, motivate, and retain the best people, and we continue to invest in them, support them with care and compassion, and create an environment of inclusion and diversity. Our commitment towards sustainability have also been extended to advance responsible buying in every aspect of our supply chain. Just like our organisation has put sustainability at the heart of everything we do, we too as team have embarked to embed sustainability in every day advise and support through our commitment to ethics, human rights, and strong corporate governance.
