Can you tell us a little about your significant accomplishments over the last few years, as a team or by yourself?
Leading the in-house team for professional services is both exciting and challenging. Across a wide array of practice areas including corporate and commercial, disputes and contentious, employment law, contracting, have provided a strong leadership focusing on: (i) acting ethically and with integrity and, in line with Deloitte values, being fair and responsible in all our interactions whether internal or external; (ii) enabling business, finding practical solutions to complex matters;(iii) we leverage technology to enable our teams to have better access to information needed to perform their roles; (iv) during the pandemic, we showed both care and commitment to our profession in that we provided our team members with all reasonable support as well as ensured continued professional support to the organisation with support from our other teams; (v) people development – we have worked with a solid focus to develop future leaders; (vi) non-discrimination, meritocracy – in our hiring we have been gender neutral, as well as agnostic to any differences other than professional capability. With a focus on meritocracy, we are delighted at having nurtured a team of strong professionals, which coincidentally happens to have around 80% women; and (vii) actively engage in the profession externally as well and considered a thought-leader.
Have any recent political, economic or regulatory changes impacted your company? How are you dealing with this?
I believe that the need for professionals and organisations to operate within the law continues regardless of political changes. Organisations must grow as economic and regulatory environments evolve to meet those changes. As professionals, we continue to evolve and learn to gear up and put ourselves in a position to meet the demands of these changes.
How has the increasing consciousness of climate change and sustainability affected your company and the team’s priorities?
The good thing I see is increased general awareness and focus on climate change and sustainability. My organisation considers this a key objective and, in addition to its internal initiatives in this regard, is actively assisting clients in helping them to meet their climate change and sustainability goals.
