Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?  

The most important and critical assignment which we have carried out in the legal department is putting our organisation ahead in technology adaption. In the legal department, we house the cybersecurity cell and monitor the complete security protocols of the group globally. We comprehensively monitor privacy protocols and have a robust compliance system set up across globe for monitoring all information relating to data collection, data processing and data dissemination.  

We have also taken on the assignment of housing the data processing wing and compliance across the board. With the help of various AI tools, our team is constantly synergising legal and compliance methods of the organisation; we developed standardised contract management systems; negotiated best practices and litigation management. With a small team of ten members and adapting to technology, we have attempted to stay abreast and counter organisational challenges with alacrity and poise.  

If you had to give advice to an aspiring in-house lawyer or general counsel, what would it be and why? 

Never give up on the three Ps: patience, perseverance, and people.
