Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense? 

In today’s age, innovation has permeated every aspect of our work, making it easier and more efficient. However, some of the latest innovations can have a hefty price tag. Fortunately, I have recently discovered litigation management and contract management software, which have revolutionised our work. These cutting-edge tools have led to significant cost savings, improved time management, and streamlined workflows. These innovative tools can enhance team productivity and collaboration. 

What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?  

I am pleased to share a recent transaction that has left a positive impression. Although there are numerous experiences worth mentioning, this particular one stands out. The transfer of CCDs between entities presented a multifaceted undertaking, necessitating substantial collaboration. Our team adeptly maneuverer through the due-diligence process, effectively coordinated with prominent big four firms, skilfully negotiated settlement agreements, invoked the provisions of Section 34 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996, and diligently litigated at High Courts in pursuit of achieving closure. Monitoring the progress at every stage posed a formidable yet gratifying endeavour. 

If you had to give advice to an aspiring in-house lawyer or general counsel, what would it be and why?
It is recommended that individuals prioritise their physical and mental well-being to excel in their profession. The legal industry relies heavily on two key components: networking and a strong work ethic. Encountering difficult situations that test our abilities is inevitable, but possessing a resilient mind and soul can provide a solution.
