Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?   
 
We have focused on creating playbooks. The legal team has documented the company’s baseline negotiation strategy on major contracts. This is supported with the relevant commentary, which highlights the risks and liabilities. This in turn creates significant value for the business team as they understand the issues and can make informed decisions. It also enables the company to negotiate and close contracts with agility. The playbooks are continuously updated, and there are confidentiality controls in place.  
 
What are the most significant cases and transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?  
 
We have completed land acquisitions in Bengaluru and Pune, which involved extensive due diligence and complex deal structuring. The company is engaged in the business of industrial leasing, and several industrial leasing contracts have been executed in India. Additionally, Mitsubishi Electric has entered into a joint venture agreement with the company for the construction of its first manufacturing plant in India.  
 
If you had to give advice to an aspiring in-house lawyer or general counsel, what would it be and why?  
 
To achieve and sustain success you must be thorough, consistent and build credibility over time. Every day at work, or in court, must be your absolute best. Always be thoroughly prepared – I have rarely seen a litigation or contract negotiation where under-preparedness has been a good strategy. It is that experience built over time that defines your excellence. Have your own definition of success and dare to dream.
