Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?
SEBI (Prohibition of Insider Trading) Regulations are very strict in India. Compliance with these regulations and ensuring that all stakeholders are aware of their responsibilities was a huge task, but utilising technology, and considering innovative ideas and suggestions from various team members and even stakeholders was helpful. It was a great collaborative effort and a continuous journey.
What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
One of the most significant transactions or cases that took place recently was the successful merger of an overseas company with the company in India.
If you had to give advice to an aspiring in-house lawyer or general counsel, what would it be and why?
Be ready to make use of technology as the times have changed and continue to change faster than we think. Technolgy is faster than law; to be on top of technological developments, risk mitigation, cyber issues, and data protection should be the priority areas. AI and ML will soon be part of a lawyer’s day-to-day life, and you will need to be ready to cope with the new developments.
