Part of Aditya Birla Group, Grasim Industries ranks among India’s largest private sector companies with a consolidated net revenue of $6bn in 2017. The company has a strong presence particularly within the textiles, chemicals and cement industries, where its subsidiary UltraTech Cement is the country’s largest cement producer. General counsel Puneet Bansal moved from the parent company to head the legal affairs of Grasim in January 2017. Another key member in Grasim’s legal team is legal executive Arushi Khandelwal who stands out for her contribution in the successful execution of a $10bn merger transaction for the company. In 2017 the legal function has been commended for its involvement on two significant deals, the acquisition of cement plants from Jaiprakash Associates Limited for $2.5bn and the Grasim’s merger with Aditya Birla Nuvo Ltd (ABNL), a $2.2bn valued Indian conglomerate.
