Oil and Natural Gas Corporation
India’s Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is a multinational energy business headquartered in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, and the largest oil and gas exploration and production company in the country. Headed by GC Powerlist: India inclusion Jitendra Kumar Bodha, the company’s legal team, comprised of 70 lawyers across more than 20 sites, boasts an internal organisational structure that has been praised for both its speed and efficiency in dealing with the company’s legal challenges. Apart from driving ONGC’s growth programme, which will see the company invest over Rs 61,000 crore over the next four years to expand and upgrade its existing refining capacity, the team has delivered outstanding advice on corporate deals. In 2017 ONGC’s legal department has worked on the acquisition of the government’s 51.1% stake in HPCL (Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited), in one of the sector’s most important deals in recent memory. Bodha has, yet again, received heavy praise from nominators in this year’s research, who have commended his wide understanding of ONGC and the wider energy sector.
