Samvardhana Motherson Group (SMG) is an Indian auto parts company founded in 1975, of which the flagship company is Motherson Sumi Systems, a joint venture with Sumitomo. SMG is present in the major global automotive production sector, with 39 production facilities spread among 16 countries and over 18,000 employees. The Group reorded a turnover of $9.1bn during the fiscal year 2016-17, and continues to grow quickly and sustainably through its wide ranging business portfolio and support from its 24 joint venture partners. SMG’s legal team is led by group general counsel Raghu CV who has led the legal team to establish the company as one of the most admired and fastest growing autoparts companies in the country. The legal team has supported SMG’s plan to expand by investing billions on acquisitions over the next few years, hoping to double group sales to $18bn by the end of 2019 amid an onset of consolidation within the industry.
