Led by general counsel Parveen Mahtani, the Tata Housing in-house legal team has 14 individuals organised between litigation and non-litigation teams. Mahtani explains how the team has developed its role within the business in recent years: ‘The legal team has evolved in the last two years from a generalist role to become experts on various legal issues specific to the real estate and infrastructure sector and international contracts. Further, the team has handled international tenders, contracts with the government in India and other countries (including Sri Lanka, Maldives and across Africa) for constructing affordable housing’. Mahtani is also keen to point out that professional development and assertiveness from all team members is at the core of all of its success. ‘Tata Housing is one of the most ethical companies’, she explains, ‘and they value employees and focus on career growth.
