Over a 13 year legal professional career, Colm MacCarvill, senior counsel and director at Squarespace, was a litigating barrister for over eight years before moving in-house in the technology industry. He previously served as legal counsel at Ding, the telecommunication, technology and e-commerce company, as well as serving as senior legal counsel at Travelport in its digital and global distribution system and mobile products division. Since joining Squarespace, as the company’s first legal appointment outside the US, MacCarvill has demonstrated excellent legal management and technical ability. He supports Squarespace’s general counsel, based in New York, providing advice on corporate, product development, internationalisation, marketing, IT, commercial and privacy matters. Serving on the board of directors of Squarespace’s international entity he is also a member of Squarespace’s global executive data privacy and security committee. Recently he has worked to launch a brand new suite of products and developing customer template agreements; advised on acquisitions of a competitor and partner businesses and generate ownership of corporate governance matters within the group. Additionally he has developed Squarespace��s product counselling function with earlier engagement of the product and engineering as well as strengthened privacy counselling, internationalisation and governance with regard to the international entity. In terms of transactions he has been busy acquiring competitors and partner companies as well as commercial transactions worth multi-millions in particular bespoke customer agile agreements. Outside of his role at Squarespace, MacCarvill is a member of the board of directors of Sports Dispute Solutions Ireland, the dispute resolution body for sport in Ireland, as well as a member of the board of directors of the Anne Sullivan Centre, a centre for people with a dual sensory disability, deafblind.
