Declan Moloney joined NAC, the world’s largest regional aircraft leasing company, as vice president legal in 2017 and works within the transaction legal team. He is responsible for advising, negotiating and implementing aircraft lease, sale-leaseback, refinancing and restructuring transactions as well as providing general advice to the business. Prior to joining NAC, Moloney spent five years at CHC Helicopter (CHC), a global helicopter company, initially as legal counsel before being promoted to director legal (asset finance and Africa and Eurasia). He advised on aircraft leasing and financing, fleet and corporate restructuring, litigation, oil and gas helicopter services tendering and general counsel issues across Europe and Africa-Eurasia. During his time with NAC, Moloney has advised on and negotiated aircraft leasing and financing transactions internationally with leading airline customers in countries as diverse as Kenya, France, Azerbaijan, Morocco, Italy and Ireland, to name a few. He highlights that, ‘it has been very rewarding to work has part of cross-functional expert “deal teams”, collectively working towards entering into binding deals with our global customer base and then working to ensure all legal requirements are in place to deliver the aircraft to the customers. My role with NAC allows me to use legal expertise, advocacy, negotiation and drafting skills in a very practical, commercial, team-work driven and international arena’. As a member of the NAC transaction legal team, under the guidance of the head of transaction legal, group vice president Marc op de Weegh, based in the Netherlands, the team has developed a working model of close collaboration with NAC’s commercial, transaction asset management, global funding, global treasury and group general counsel departments that ensures NAC’s strategies are effectively implemented. Transactional highlights of Moloney and the team include the successful aircraft leasing and sale-leaseback transactions with new NAC airline customers including with Jambojet in Kenya, Cityjet in Ireland and Azerbaijan Airlines. Additionally, he orchestrated the lease and airline customer implementation of NAC’s successful debut of a senior unsecured private placement and unsecured syndicated revolving credit facility (RCF).
