A multiple award winning candidate, Miriam Caley returns to the GC Powerlist, having previously featured in 2017 and 2018. Caley, a former associate at Matheson and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer heads the legal team at Optum, a healthcare company that forms part of the UnitedHealth Group (UHG). In the role since 2016, Caley has provided exemplary legal management during a time when the legal team has grown considerably. Optum uses software and data computing to drive improved experiences and better outcomes, with focus on pharmacy care services, population health management, healthcare delivery, operations and advisory services. Data compliance is a major theme of her work along with corporate governance, real estate and contracts, as Optum Ireland’s focus on research and development technology underpins the business. In the words of a nominator, ‘Miriam Caley’s vast knowledge traverses these areas. Caley and her team keep pace most effectively with the complex software that is used in order to support the business. Caley is adept at handling the variety of work that can turn up on one’s desk in an in-house role. She has an astute sense of the company’s needs and always strives to find the solution that works best for the business on a practical level’. Caley has put considerable effort into operational excellence and the building of her legal team.
