General counsel | Three
Patrick Foyle is the general counsel at mobile operator Three Ireland, which is Ireland’s second largest mobile operator with a 35% market share and two million customers. Foyle expertly leads its legal and regulatory function. The company is wholly owned by CK Hutchinson Holdings, a multinational conglomerate specialising in technology. In 2015, O2’s Irish operations were merged with the Three Ireland network, after an earlier acquisition. On this deal a nominator identifies that, ‘the biggest challenge for Foyle on an operational level was integrating two separate legal teams into a single entity, and creating a new legal and regulatory function. This included expanding, absorbing and integrating with the O2 business, and also getting on top of the new regulatory issues and consolidating processes to a single set of policies’. Foyle and his team are highly valued to the business; they play a key advisory role on all material transactions that the business considers, and are represented on the senior management team.
