What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

It has been a very busy period for the team. In addition to concluding significant partnership agreements with several high-profile airline partners such as Air France/KLM and Wizz Air, we were also involved in several important strategic projects. A particularly exciting project was CarTrawler’s application for B-Corp certification, which we expect to receive shortly and in which the legal and compliance team played a significant role. We were also heavily involved in the Group entering into a new banking facility in the period.

How important is choosing to work with external lawyers who align with your company’s values? Are you likely to reconsider what firms you work with based on this?

CarTrawler is a very much a values-based organisation and having external lawyers who are aligned with those values and how we act as a business is very important for us. It also helps to ensure that the advice we receive is tailored to our business and reflects our overall approach as an organisation.

How much influence do you, as a general counsel, have on the diversity and inclusion policies of your organisation?

Creating an inclusive workplace and culture is front of mind for CarTrawler. We recently launched our new Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Strategy on International Women’s Day and have a number of focused DEIB workstreams in place. The legal and compliance team has played a role in a number of these, particularly in relation to the Advancing Gender Equity workstream, where we have been involved in creating several new People Policies to create equal opportunities and remove potential barriers.
