Overseeing a portfolio of approximately 1,700 owned, managed or on order aircraft, Dublin headquartered leasing company AerCap cemented their position as global leaders in the field after completing their acquisition of International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC) for $2.6bn in 2013. With a legal team populated by business-savvy and diligent counsel, AerCap’s EMEA business is safeguarded against risk specific to the sector including the covering of legal issues related to leasing, financing, acquisition, trading and general risk-management activities. Successfully providing legal support for 405 transactions in 2015 alone, including signing lease agreements for 276 aircraft and purchasing 46 new aircraft as part of those figures. Allowing the businesses strategy to be realised seamlessly, AerCap were recognised in January 2016 by an external industry publication, awarding them with honours for “Lessor of the Year” and “Treasury Team of the Year”.
