As legal director at Dell Technologies in Ireland since 2005, Philip Clesham uses his almost 15 years of experience at Dell and his considerable legal and scientific background, originally having trained as a geologist, to expertly lead the Dell legal team in Ireland which has contributed to the company’s 12th place in the Irish Times top 1000. The team consists of four lawyers in total as well as commercial contract manager, Lisa Collins who specialises in complex commercial and enterprise deals, and legal operations professional Breda Ryan who specialises in e-billing and matter management. Privacy professional Stuart Muir manages the global GDPR programme. Senior legal counsel John O’Brien works on global deals, which include coverage of Dell’s strategically aligned businesses, whilst legal director of IP Brian Hamilton covers IP and IP litigation in a global capacity. Deborah Finn plays a key role in the department as Dell’s Ireland company secretary. Currently the team is working on expanding and enhancing a comprehensive e-billing and matter management service across EMEA, implementing a customer centric focus – ‘telling the customer our legal story as in what we do, how we do it and why’,working as one with other corporate services, developing a proximate partnership across three large business campus locations, increasing the efficiency of commercial contract management, and enhancing the legal and cybersecurity partnership within the company. Recent projects have included the merger of Dell and EMC, its integration and consolidation, employment harmonisation, leading on Dell’s “Women in Action” initiative, working closely with Dell Bank, and leading business process change.
