Upon its inception in 2014, Ireland’s state-owned gas and water utility company Ervia brought together the country’s existing gas utility (renamed Gas Networks Ireland) and newly created water utility Irish Water. The legal affairs of these two entities are overseen by a dedicated legal department led by chief legal officer Rory Williams. The team is heavily involved in strategic work within Ervia, assisting on projects related to GNI’s infrastructure and Irish Water’s investment and structural water services. Over its relatively short history of supporting Ervia, Williams’s team has already impressed with its eye on innovation and desire to build better lines of communication with engineering staff, a goal achieved, in part, thanks to the roll-out of various methods of collaboration, including training sessions and the creation of a forum. Of note, is also the team’s direct contributions to projects and transactions undertaken by both GNI and Irish Water over the last four years.
