PwC’s Ireland-based in-house legal team is undergoing an increase in capabilities and ‘very much evolving and establishing itself’ according to general counsel Elizabeth Davis. Still a relatively small team at three lawyers, plans are in place to increase the team size in preparation of greater responsibilities in the near future, and Davis explains that the team’s structure is currently based on enabling ‘individual lawyers to focus on specific aspects of the business to get to know it better’. The team has, however, already been at the forefront of ‘many business-wide projects including technology developments, Brexit implications, GDPR and assisting in managing relationships with regulators’. Emma Kinsella, who joined the team in 2017, came in for particular praise for ‘reinforcing the key message that legal is here as a problem-solver rather than a problem-maker, in collaboration with the business’.
