What are the most significant cases and transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
Our team works across a broad range of legal issues, cases and transactions as the in-house team of Ireland’s largest retailer, retailing both grocery and textiles. We advise on corporate / strategic transactions; contracts of varying complexities and values; consumer law; commercial litigation; property and real estate; regulation and compliance; intellectual property; marketing and advertising; employment law; health and safety; insurance and liability and privacy and data protection.
What has been the number one challenge that has impacted you over the past year?
With growing and increasing volumes of new legislation at national and EU level, devising and maintaining appropriate measure for tracking this, and horizon scanning is something that our department are very focused on – this is in the areas that you mention below around climate change and sustainability.
Has the increasing consciousness of climate change and sustainability affected your company and the team’s priorities, and if so how?
It affects our company in many ways, particularly in relation to our supply chain and responsible sourcing of products and supply. Our team is focused on advising on all aspects arising from the increasing consciousness of climate change and sustainability, in particular around legal frameworks in place, and being put in place, at national and EU level.
