How do you feel the pandemic has changed the world of work for in-house counsel and the function of the general counsel?
I believe the pandemic has not severely changed the work and function of the in-house counsel. There were some obvious changes in the way we conduct business, which the pandemic proved were not essential such as excessive travel, but even still I do not think there were significant changes to the function of the in-house counsel.
What are the most significant cases and transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
The most significant case which speaks volume is the arbitration proceedings against Qatargas.
What do you feel are the pros and cons of an in-house legal role compared to a private practice one?
In-house counsel are right at the heart of the action and fully involved in the management decision making process. In-house counsel input is ranked higher in terms of reference and weight, in respect to management’s decisions.
