How do you feel the pandemic has changed the world of work for in-house counsel and the function of the general counsel?
The pandemic and the subsequent events linked with it, had a substantial impact on business organisations and their practices – remote working and videocall meetings are a few examples. The new approach to work represented an opportunity to unequivocally identify the most valuable people in the team; those who constantly devote themselves to their job despite where they are located and ensure the necessary interconnection between the various levels, guaranteeing prominent levels of professionalism as in the past.
What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
Pirelli has a large presence in the world. It extends its presence to over 160 countries, therefore we often face a considerable number of cases governed by any respective applicable law.
How do you suggest in-house lawyers build strong relationships with business partners?
Strong relationships with business partners are built with constant in-depth interactions with the organisation. Only by directly interfacing with the business and the activities of the company, it is possible to develop a more complete understanding so to make decisions on whether it is opportune to go further with legal protection or take a small step back to assess risks appropriately.
