Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?  

We have implemented a digital platform to manage end to end all the litigations. The platform is equipped with a robotic routine in charge of analysing the relevant documents and attributing them to the competent internal function or external lawyer. 

The platform assures the synchronisation with the SAP system and the platform of the external lawyers so that all the actions are performed within the IT system and based on digitalised documents. 

The initiative has granted significative saving in terms of employees dedicated to manual management of the very large number of litigations in exchange for modest costs of implementation. 

What are some of the main trends impacting the industry sector you work in in Italy?   

The industry is facing a market change with the introduction of technologies such as 5G and fiber vs copper which implies reduced margins and high investments. The trends are to move from core telco services to new digital/AI opportunities; and separate network (high capital intensive) from services. 

What measures has your company taken to embed sustainability practices into its core business operations, and how does the role of the general counsel contribute to driving and ensuring sustainable practices within the company?  

We have implemented several actions, among which the substitution of carbon energy with renewable sources. We have advanced policies of inclusion and a gender equity programme. The sustainable targets have been added to MBO targets with a progressive increasing weight.
