Could you tell us a bit about yourself and your career?

Since January 2017, I have served as the head of legal and regulatory affairs of the Banco BPM Group, one of the most important Italian banking institutions. In this role, I deal with various legal, corporate and regulatory matters for both the bank itself and its subsidiaries. Together with my team, I provide legal advice and coordination for extraordinary financial transactions, including equity and debt issuances within the Banco BPM Group, as well as support in transactions related to the sale of non-performing loans (NPLs). 

Prior to my current position, I served as head of extraordinary transactions and legal finance at Banca Popolare di Milano from February 2013 to December 2016. In this position, I played a central role in the management of legal and regulatory aspects related to significant corporate transactions carried out by the BPM group, including the merger of BPM with Banco Popolare in 2016 from which Banco BPM was born and the BPM capital increase in 2014, also contributing to the successful completion of equity and debt issuance transactions.  

My professional career includes a term as a member of the board of directors (BoD) of Banca Akros, the investment bank of the Banco BPM Group, from April 2023 and as an independent member of the BoD of the listed company Italiaonline from November 2015 to April 2018. During this period, I served as chairman of the nomination and remuneration committee and as a member of the audit and risk committee. 

Before joining Banco BPM and Banca Popolare di Milano, I gained valuable experience as a senior associate at Chiomenti Studio Legale from April 2003 to January 2013. Specialising in Corporate Law and Capital Markets, I provided legal advice on various corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and corporate financial transactions, including rights offerings, bond offerings and IPOs. My work has involved constant collaboration with major Italian companies, financial institutions, law firms as well as the Italian supervisory authorities. 

Before joining Chiomenti Studio Legale, between 2001 and 2002 I participated in the definition and authorisation of the procedures with the Bank of Italy relating to the pending litigation positions of Sicilcassa in Liquidazione Coatta Amministrativa. This experience further enriched my knowledge of the regulatory processes of the financial sector.
