Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?   

For recurrent agreements we provided procurement department with pdf version of our template with only limited parts editable to be filled in with the commercial information. In that way we avoided workload and timing to be wait for the department with no risk and no cost (reducing the internal cost significantly)   

Can you foresee any key developments to the way general counsel work over the next five years? 

The general counsel would need to put focus on AI and IT system to be adopted in the normal process of the legal department to embed the legal process into the processes of the organization, assuring consistency, efficiency, and reliability. The legal teams would be structured accordingly to effectively take advantage of the technology and focus on more added-value activity. 

What are some of the main trends impacting the industry sector you work in in Italy? 

From my prospective the compliance (in a broad meaning: compliance with law, with internal process, with market standards) is becoming the area of attention by the market.   

How would you assess the impact of new technologies on the legal landscape in Italy, and what measures would you propose to leverage these technologies while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations? 

The technologies will have a material impact on legal departments because lot of work will be done by the technologies and the legal counsel needs to focus on more managerial and added valued activities, being open to adapt themselves to new matters.
