Antonia Cosenz is a legal professional with extensive experience in the financial and corporate sectors. Since January 2017, she has been the head of legal and regulatory affairs at Banco BPM Group, where she manages the legal, corporate, and regulatory aspects of the bank and its subsidiaries. Her role involves coordinating finance transactions, overseeing legal proceedings, and liaising with supervisory authorities. Among several transactions, she assisted in establishing the bank’s strategic partnerships in the bancassurance and payments sectors and contributed actively to the merger between Banco Popolare and Banca Popolare di Milano, which formed Banco BPM in 2017.
Previously, Antonia was the head of extraordinary transactions and legal dinance at Banca Popolare di Milano from February 2013 to December 2016. She provided legal assistance on corporate law and regulatory matters, structured finance transactions, and maintained relationships with authorities like the ECB, Bank of Italy, and Consob.
From November 2015 to April 2018, Antonia served as an independent board member at Italiaonline, where she was the chairman of the appointment and remuneration committee and a member of the control and risk committee. From April 2023 she serves as board member at Banca Akros the investment bank of Banco BPM Group.
Her earlier career includes a decade as a senior associate at Chiomenti Studio Legale, specialising in corporate law and capital markets. She assisted in M&A, corporate finance transactions, and provided legal support to major Italian companies and financial institutions.
Academically, Antonia holds a master’s in European law from the Academy of European Law of Florence and a magna cum laude law degree from the University of Palermo. She participated in the Socrates-Erasmus Programme at the University of Aberdeen and completed a master’s in executive leadership at Harvard Law School in June 2023. Among several professional accomplishments, she is fluent in Italian and English, with basic proficiency in French, and is a frequent speaker at conferences on corporate law, market disclosure, and M&A.
Her breadth of experience and depth of knowledge make her a highly respected figure in the legal and financial communities.
