How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?
The approach we are following is a standardisation of the process and the support for the day-by-day activities to be flexible to focus the attention to the new and sometime (since the covid particularly) unexpected issue and challenge for the business and the legal department consequently. Due to the instability, in fact, we are experiencing to constant new needs and emergencies form the market.
What are the main cases or transactions that you have been involved in recently?
We are reshaping the supply chain across the region EMEA searching and finalising new partnerships and alliances (with all the relevant agreement to be executed) to be more efficient and effective in each market in term of penetration, service to the client and ability to adapt and react to the changes. We are strengthening our present in Africa by mean of new partnership (also industrial) with all the relevant agreement required.
How have you integrated technology into your legal processes, and what impact has this had on efficiency and compliance?
We are creating editable templates for the main agreements used to centralise the management of the version and the relevant update and provide the departments with documents ready to use just filling the open parts. In that way there is not further need of involvement of approval by the legal department unless there are amendments required. The efficiency and reliability have increased a lot because the department are faster in the execution and the legal department can focus the attention on more complex transactions.
What role does the legal department play in promoting and ensuring corporate social responsibility in your organisation?
We are the responsible of the training and the control on several laws and regulations related to compliance within the CSR as well as introducing specific clause in our agreement to ensure the respect of such regulation impacting on the CSR. So that we support the organisation in developing such a culture inside and in the relationship with our partners in the market. Being part of the committee for the procurement and the choose of our suppliers we contribute to the assessment of such requirement in the selection process.
