As the seventh largest automobile manufacturer in the world as well as having one of Italian businesses most illustrious names, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) have a significant reputation to protect. The company is therefore reliant on internal legal and compliance support to ensure risk is mitigated and the company’s reputation is upheld. This is in addition to the day to day risk management needed to stave off any market externalities that may prove to be a detriment to the company and its operations, and Giorgio Fossati, general counsel for FCA’s EMEA region – leads a team based in Turin that provides legal counsel and business enabling advice to the wider company. Composed of a number of professionals that have the duty to advise on a number of different aspects of the law across FCA’s various business lines including finance, purchasing and industrial operations, some of the issues the team deal with include, but are not limited to – international law, M&A, international contract drafting, IP and competition law.
