Multinational information technology company Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), has been present in Italy for a number of years in the area of manufacturing and distributing technology products. The legal team consists of three lawyers and one executive assistant and reports to the country counsel for Italy Isabella Toth. She explains: ‘The HPE legal team’s mission is to support HPE in conducting its business with uncompromising integrity and always winning the right way, exercising ethical leadership and building trust with HPE customers, suppliers and partners’. Each lawyer provides legal support to the HPE business units, including legal risk assessment, legal opinions, contract drafting, negotiation and execution with the company’s customers and suppliers, public procurement and participation in public tenders. The legal team provides legal support in respect to all issues in the area of corporate law, labour law, criminal law, law 231/2001, ethics and compliance and health and safety. The legal team also handles the company’s corporate affairs, with the country counsel acting as secretary to the company’s board of directors. The legal team is equipped to deal with the complex transformation undergone by the HPE group over the years, most notably with the separation of Hewlett Packard Group into two separate entities: HPE and HP Inc.
