The Nestlé legal team provides legal advice for all the three widely-recognised operating companies of the Nestlé Group in Italy: Nestlé Italiana, Sanpellegrino and Nespresso. In the last two years, the legal team has widened its scope and activity to certain extra territory areas of work. General counsel of Nestlé Italy Daniele Guarnieri, has been appointed as the category lead lawyer for Nestlé EMENA confectionary business, therefore providing legal advice throughout the EMENA region for legal and compliance issues related to Nestlé’s confectionary business. ‘Nestlé’s legal team is seen in the organisation as the legal guardians of Nestlé’s businesses assets, culture and values and its aim to help Nestlé’s businesses to grow faster and sustainably’, says Guarnieri. The team accomplishes this through successfully delivering Nestlé’s specific legal and business solutions and delivering pragmatic and rigorous management of legal risk and opportunities, ‘not only under the “is it legal?” but also the “is it right?” approach’, adds Guarnieri. The team has recently been tasked with providing legal advice to its water and coffee business on certain environmental matters connected to packaging recycling, in order to shape Nestlé’s environmental policy. Recently the team has also successfully defended the use of advertising claims related to one of its water business products with Italy’s advertising standards authority and Italian Competition Authority.
