Hiroko Tanaka is general counsel for Japan, and a member of the Japan Country Coordinating Committee as well as the Management Committee of Citigroup Global Markets Japan Inc., Citibank, N.A., Tokyo Branch and Citigroup Japan Holdings G.K. Tanaka joined Citi in May 2018, prior to which she worked at Morgan Stanley Japan Ltd. (currently Morgan Stanley MUFG Securities Co., Ltd.) for 18 years, where she was most recently a Managing Director with primary responsibility for the sales and trading businesses (1999 – 2018). Earlier in her career, she worked as an Associate at Nagashima & Ohno, currently Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu, from 1994 – 1999). Tanaka has been registered for practicing law in Japan since 1994 (a member of the Daiichi Tokyo Bar Association). She received her LL.B. from the University of Tokyo Faculty of Law in 1986, and LL.M. from the Duke University School of Law in 1991.
