What are the most significant cases or transactions that you have been involved in over the past year?

Thanks to our strong business partners, all of my legal team members and I have been busy constantly busy, involved in quite a few big and complex deals with our channel partners, distributors and end users. Even though we have tried to resolve the issues before escalating into litigation, there were a few cases in which we were deeply involved in arriving at an amicable settlement.

Based on your experience, what is the key to collaborating successfully with business partners?

Be respectful to our business partners and listen actively and carefully to what they say.
Building strong partnerships with the business partners by effective communication and trust in each other is absolutely key to success.

How do you motivate and manage the other members of your legal team well?

One of my team members, who has constantly made substantial contributions to the company, has longer tenure than me. I hired the rest of my team members.
I have been lucky as I did not have to motivate or actively manage my team members as they are all well-educated and self-motivated professionals with sophisticated knowledge and experience.
As a leader of my team, I give my team members opportunities and encourage them to actively participate in the global and regional initiatives and projects aside from their daily local assignments. This means that that their competence and presence will be duly recognised by our legal colleagues in our global organisation.
