Bio

Marita is an in-house counsel with robust M&A background – earned a bachelor of Laws from the Universidad de Lima and called to the bar in 2001. Furthered expertise with a masters in Laws from the University of Toronto in 2003. Started on a career journey with The Bank of Nova Scotia (Scotiabank) in 2004 as an international associate, progressing to legal counsel and then senior legal counsel international M&A.

Specialised in structured finance, international banking and expanded into M&A from 2006 onwards. Assists in Scotiabank´s strategic projects, providing expert legal, transactional, structuring, tactical and strategic advice. Provides support on M&A endevours, joint ventures, fintech initiatives, reorganisations and other investments in the Caribbean and Latin America regions. Returned to Lima in 2009 while maintaining the role as senior legal counsel M&A international banking, contributing significantly to Scotiabank´s success in acquisitions and sales projects since 2006.
